Rescuing children from the streets of Uganda
More than 3,500 children live and work on Kampala's streets
No child should be forced to live on the street or endure abuse. Umoya is working to rescue children from the streets of Kampala, Uganda.
We rescue, rehabilitate and reconcile street-connected children with their families.
We run regular street outreaches in Bwayise to connect with children living on the streets. Our outreach enables us to build relationships and trust with the children.
Street outreach
We ensure that each child we rescue from the street has access to an education or vocational training through our child sponsorship program.
Child sponsorship helps us to provide school fees, uniforms, books, transport and meals at school.
Education
Child resettlement is where a child is successfully re-united with an existing family member or relative. We believe that child resettlement is the best option for children living on the street.
