Rescue, Rehabilitation
& Reintegration

RESCUE

We run regular street outreach to provide children access to support, to build relationships and provide emergency medical care and food. Outreach enables us to identify children who are ready to leave street life behind. Our team work to built trust and hear the children’s stories. We provide hot meals, play games and take the children to places where they can wash their clothes and bathe.

REHABILITATION

Our aim is to establish an approved and licensed children’s home in Uganda. The home will be a child resettlement home and enable us to rescue and care for more children. The home will provide regular balanced meals, medical care, counselling and spiritual discipleship for children rescued from the street.

We aim to start small and continuously grow. We aim to provide health education, recreational activities, the creative arts and help children re-build positive life skills. Home tracing to prepare for safe re-unification with family members will continue to be main factor in our work. We will continue to provide on-going support for each child at home. Our plan is to rent a home in Uganda in the near future and then eventually purchase land and build our own home.

REINTEGRATION

Umoya will not be an orphanage. We believe that children thrive best at home in safe, loving environments. Our goal is to always aim to achieve this alongside strong case management. We also do household assessment, mediation where necessary and careful planning. We provide continual follow-up and economic empowerment plans for families living in extreme poverty.
