Hamza’s story
Hamza was only young when the Queen came to visit Kampala. The street children were ordered to not be anywhere near the streets for the Queen’s visit but Hamza didn’t listen! He was severely beaten for being on the streets and received an injury to his leg. It was ten years later that we met Hamza. He had never received treatment for his injury and it had gotten very bad indeed. We were worried he may lose his leg. You could see the long term severe pain written all over his face. Hamza was not doing well when we found him.
His operation was expensive but through our amazing donors we raised all the money we needed to get it done! Praise God. Thankfully Hamza didn’t have to have his leg amputated. It took a while and many hospital trips but now Hamza is pain free and able to walk again.
We were able to take Hamza back to his home village to see his mother who had not seen Hamza for many years. She was so shocked to see him and it was a beautiful reunion. She didn’t know if her son was alive or dead. Later, Hamza was also able to trace his father. Hamza currently still lives in Kampala. We are so grateful to all of you who walk alongside us and help us to change the lives of street connected children. You are helping to restore and save lives.
